Northstar Commuter Rail

Northstar Commuter RailThe first phase of the Northstar Commuter rail proposal is for service on a 40-mile segment along Highways 10 and 47 from Big Lake to Minneapolis.

Stations are proposed for Big Lake, Elk River, Anoka, Coon Rapids, Fridley and Minneapolis.

The trains are expected to carry the equivalent of one-and-a-half lanes of traffic at peak periods and will support an estimated $4.5 billion in development along the entire corridor.

Northstar Commuter rail is expected to begin carrying passengers in 2009.
