How To Obtain

Please note - First-time driver's instruction permit applications will be accepted at the Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, and Ham Lake License Centers but not at the Blaine and Ramsey License Centers. See License Center Hours and Services for more information.

All License Centers will continue to process application for renewal and replacement of driver licenses, instructional permits and State ID cards.

If replacing a lost or stolen permit, proof of identity must be presented.

Note: Anoka County License Centers do NOT offer written or "behind-the-wheel" driver's license testing.  See the Minnesota Department of Vehicle Services Web site for testing locations.

Required Forms

The Driver's Instruction Permit application form is available in any Anoka County License Center.

Required Identification

Go to the Minnesota Department of Vehicle Services Web site then click on "ID Requirements" for current rules on required identification.

Required Fees

Driver's Instruction Permit - $12.00

Anoka County License Centers can accept payment by cash or check.
