Anoka County Parks and Recreation Offers Advanced Paddling Classes
The
Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department is offering the
following classes in August:
Advanced Canoeing
Do you have some experience canoeing but want to know more? You
will have the opportunity to learn advanced paddle strokes, solo
canoeing, and rescue techniques. Take your canoeing skills to the
next level! All gear and equipment is provided. Come prepared to get
wet! Pre-registration and payment is required by calling
651-429-8007. Fee: $7/person. Tuesday, August 7, 6-8 p.m. at
Centerville Beach, located in the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park
Reserve in Lino Lakes.
Advanced Kayaking
Have you tried kayaking and want to take your skills to the next
level? This second level kayaking class is designed for those with
some previous paddling experience. Students will learn a variety of
basic skills including wet exits and entries, draw and sweep
strokes, bracing, and more. Kayakers will learn to reduce fatigue
and increase their paddling enjoyment by improving their technique.
Space is limited. Bring your own boat or one will be provided.
Pre-registration and payment is required by calling 651-429-8007.
Fee: $25/person. Tuesday, August 28, 7-9 p.m. at Centerville Beach,
located in the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Park Reserve in Lino Lakes.
