Anoka County Press Release
Anoka County Dive Team Recognized

The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team was recognized at a
recent Anoka County board meeting for its contributions in the
recovery effort at the site of the I-35W bridge disaster in
Minneapolis.
Soon after the bridge collapsed, Anoka County sent 21 dive team
members, three watercraft, and an equipment trailer to the site.
Divers spent the next three days searching for victims and vehicles
in the treacherous waters of the Mississippi River.
“The divers faced extremely difficult conditions,” said Anoka
County Commissioner Scott LeDoux, chair of the county’s Public
Safety Committee. “However, they have completed an extensive
training regimen and as a result, were able to contend with the
strong current, near zero visibility, and large amounts of debris in
the water.”
The Anoka County Dive Team includes deputies from several
departments in the sheriff’s office as well as members of the
sheriff’s reserves.
