Please note the Requirements for Participating in the Senior Caregiver Network

Under this program, a prescreened and trained volunteer provides companionship for care recipients for two to four hours a week. The volunteer provides respite (an interval of rest of relief) from caregiving responsibilities to those providing 24-hour, seven-day-a-week care.

Respite providers:

  • Provide companion care
  • Develop friendships
  • Share their skills and time
  • Help the care recipient to remain at home

Respite providers DO NOT:

  • Give medications
  • Do housework
  • Provide professional care
