Election Day Registration

You may pre-register until 21 days prior to an election. You may also register at the polling place on Election Day with acceptable identification allowed by state law:

  • Minnesota driver’s license, learner’s permit, or identification card (or receipt of any of these), or photo Tribal ID, with your current address
  • "Notice of Late Registration" received from Anoka County if your registration card was received after the last day to pre-register
  • A registered voter living in your precinct who will accompany you to the polling location and who will vouch for your residency
  • An existing registration in the same precinct at another address. This applies only if the voter has moved within the same precinct
  • Original utility bill (including gas, electric, phone, cable, solid waste, water, sewer, or cell phone) with your name and current address that is dated within 30 days of election day, along with a photo ID (including Military ID, U.S. Passport, Student ID, Tribal ID, or Minnesota Drivers License with your previous address)
  • For students, Registration or Fee statement with your name and current address, along with photo student ID
  • Photo student ID for students who live on campus (if your college has provided the county with a certified list of students)
  • For those who live in a residential facility, including nursing homes, battered women’s shelters, homeless shelters and other licensed facilities, an employee who will vouch that you live there
