The Southern Anoka County Neighborhood Center is conveniently located for Anoka County residents who live in the southern-most part of the county, including the communities of Columbia Heights, Spring Lake Park, and Fridley.

The center provides these programs:

  • Adult Protection:  This county-based service is for the protection and help of vulnerable adults.  For more about vulnerable adults see Anoka County Adult Protection, or call 763-422-7070.
  • Community Corrections Department:  Probation officers work with the court system to help juvenile offenders meet their court-ordered conditions. Services include assisting offenders and their families with concerns about school, jobs, and other activities.  For program information, see Community Corrections.
     
  • Community Health:  Public health nurses promote the health and well-being of the community. Services for individuals and families include education, parenting information, home safety assessment and family planning. Home health services that enable elderly and disabled residents to maintain independent living are also available. For more information, see Community Health & Environmental Services.
     
  • Community Mental Health
     
    • Children's Mental Health:  This unit is designed to identify children within the community who may benefit from services.  Social workers help families locate and connect to available community support services.  For more information, please call Children's Mental Health Intake at 763-712-2722.
    • Adult Mental Health: Social workers are available for people who are experiencing significant barriers because of their mental health, including chemical health needs. Case managers have many roles and will coordinate individual needs.
       
  • Community Social Services:  Social workers assist families where children may be at risk for harm. Services may include referrals to community resources, out-of-home placement, or other support services.
     
  • Income Maintenance:  Financial workers facilitate screening for Cash Assistance, Health Care, Food Support and Emergency Assistance programs for families and individuals. This includes:
    • Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP),
    • General Assistance (GA),
    • Minnesota Supplemental Assistance (MSA),
    • Medical Assistance,
    • Minnesota Care,
    • Long Term Care and other health care programs,
    • Food Support (FS) and Emergency Assistance (EA),
    • Emergency General Assistance (EGA) and
    • Emergency Supplemental Assistance( EMSA).
    • Services include general screening, explaining application process and connecting to appropriate office to be screened and/or to apply, and to refer to and assist in connecting people to community resources.

  • Anoka County License Center: Visit the center to conduct motor vehicle transactions, get a driver’s license or ID, passport application, a Minnesota Department of Natural Resource watercraft, snowmobile, and ATV registration, or a game and fish license.
