A retailer who sells automotive tires must accept waste tires from customers for collection and recycling.  The retailer must accept as many waste tires from each customer as tires bought by that customer (Minnesota Statutes § 325E.32).  A fee is usually charged.

If you have tires to get rid of and are not purchasing new tires, take the tires to a location listed.

You may need to remove tire rims before taking tires to a collection site for recycling.  Metal rims can be taken to a scrap metal recycler.

Avoid storing old tires.  Old tires are breeding grounds for mosquitoes and are a fire hazard if they are stored uncovered outside.

Recycled tires are made into floor mats, flooring, road base, rubber fenders, and truck liners.
