Information About:
It is illegal to put motor oil filters in the garbage (Minnesota Statutes ยง 115A.916). They must be taken to a collection site that accepts them.
Drain oil filters upside down over a container of used motor oil for at least 12 hours before taking them to a drop-off location. Put filters in a sealed container to prevent leaks. When oil filters are recycled, any oil remaining in the filters is recovered, and the metal goes to a scrap metal recycling facility.
