Metal - Non-recyclable Curbside

Some metal containers are not recyclable in most curbside recycling programs. These include steel cans that contained paint or paint thinner, aerosol cans (empty), and steel cans that contained non-food products or hazardous materials, automotive fluids or other chemicals.

Although these empty containers are usually not recyclable at the curb they may be accepted as scrap metal at a drop-off recycling center that accepts scrap metal, or on your recycling day. See our Residential Recycling Opportunities page for more information on your municipality.

Be sure you know exactly what your recycling program accepts before saving materials for collection.
