Rechargeable batteries are a smart choice because they reduce overall battery waste. Rechargeable batteries are typically found in laptop computers, cell and cordless phones, cordless power tools, digital cameras, video cameras, camcorders, two-way radios, electronic games, and remote control toys.

Common rechargeable batteries include 
• Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd)
• Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH)
• Lithium Ion (Li-ion)
• Nickel Zinc (Ni-Zn)
• Small Sealed Lead (SSLA/Pb)

Take rechargeable batteries to a location listed or to a Call2Recycle® drop-off location. Visit Call2Recycle® for additional collection sites such as major retail chains. Call2Recycle® drop-off locations do not charge a fee and accept the types of rechargeable batteries listed above weighing less than 11 lb/5 kg each.

It is illegal to throw in the garbage a rechargeable battery, a rechargeable battery pack, or a product with a nonremovable rechargeable battery (Minnesota Statutes § 115A.9157).
