Why recycle mixed paper?
  • An average American household receives over 677 pieces of unsolicited promotions, sales pitches, and donation requests each year.
  • Every hour metropolitan area residents place over 42,000 pounds of recyclable paper in the garbage.

What is mixed paper recycled into?
Mixed paper is collected, baled, and taken to a paper mill where it is mixed with hot water and turned into pulp.  The pulp is screened for contaminants, cleaned, often de-inked and bleached, and then made into new paper products.  Mixed paper can be used to make new cereal boxes, facial and toilet paper, greeting cards, wrapping, and writing paper.
